Grants Statement – January 2023

Folke Parish Council has the legal and financial ability to make grants. Requests for financial aid for projects that benefit the parish area are to be made in writing, addressed to the Clerk or in person, raised as a public matter at a Parish Council meeting.

The Council operates a S137 grant aid policy. There is a limit on the amount a Parish Council can spend which is set by the Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) for the purposes of section 137(4) (a) of the Local Government Act 1972 ("the 1972 Act"). This enables Folke Parish Council (FPC) to award a small amount in grants each year where it is able to do so. The upper limit for 2023-24 is £9.93 per elector. As there are 295 electors in the parish this means the total spend can be no higher than £2,929.35.
