President's Match
Each season, the League President holds a friendly match, known as the 'President's Match', at the President's home green. In 2026, this is hosted by Gosport BC, on the afternoon of Sunday 19 July 2026.
The host club provides the 'home' side's rinks, and the President's 'away' side consists of a mixed triples rink from up to seven (or up to eight at Gosport in 2026) of the other G&F clubs - to provide up to 7 (8 at Gosport 2026) 'away' rinks / 21 (24 at Gosport 2026) 'away' players.
In 2026, 'away' rinks from clubs with a home 'all-weather surface' green will play on Gosport's 'all-weather surface' green; other clubs' 'away' rinks will play on Gosport's grass green.
The format is at the discretion of the President in conjunction with the Competitions Secretary, and is typically mixed triples or mixed rinks (fours). In 2026 it will be played as 18-ends of mixed triples, with each triple to contain at least one player of each gender. Under the G&F common dress code all members of each ‘away’ rink from the same club are to wear matching club attire. Start time is 13:30 for 14:00, with refreshment to follow the match, and with an anticipated event end time of 18:00.
Refreshment is provided as usual as part of this event, with a contribution of £5 per player as a match/entry fee. This fee of £15 per rink is payable with a club's entry, via the below forms. The closing date for return of entry form and payment is close-of-business Monday 29 June 2026.
