Shaping Our Shared Future: Watch Our Joint Spatial Plan Presentation

Thank you to everyone who came along to our joint community event at Wendover Memorial Hall, where Wendover, Halton, Aston Clinton and Weston Turville Parish and Town Councils set out our joint spatial plan for the future of our four villages, and what it means for the emerging Buckinghamshire Local Plan.

Why we did this

Since April 2026, our four parish councils have been working together as WWATCH, with independent planning advisers, to think through the long-term future of this area properly — rather than reacting piecemeal to whatever comes next. The redevelopment of RAF Halton, and the wider growth proposed across this part of Buckinghamshire, doesn't stop at a parish boundary, and we didn't think our response should either.

Our shared position, agreed jointly by all four councils, is this:

"Growth is accepted in principle, but it must be accompanied by appropriate infrastructure, protection of settlement identity, and measures to prevent coalescence between communities."

What we covered

The presentation walks through:

• What Buckinghamshire Council is actually proposing for Aston Clinton, RAF Halton, Weston Turville and Wendover, and the cumulative picture alongside growth at Stoke Mandeville
• Our concerns around housing numbers and infrastructure — including GP capacity, school places, transport, and flood risk
• The evidence-based spatial plan we've developed, grounded in Buckinghamshire Council's own evidence base, not just local opinion
• How we're working to protect the green gaps between our villages, and to connect the Chilterns escarpment habitats with the wetlands and waterways through the vale
• What it all means for the identity, landscape and community of our four villages
• How you can have your say

We live somewhere genuinely rich — in landscape, in wildlife, in history, in identity, and in community. Our villages sit at the edge of the Chilterns National Landscape, surrounded by SSSIs and waterways that connect this whole area together. What we're asking for is a plan, built on fact and built to last, that protects that landscape, connects rather than fragments our nature, keeps our roads, schools and services fit for the people who'll use them, and keeps Wendover, Halton, Aston Clinton and Weston Turville as the distinct, living, pleasant places they've always been — not merged, not overcrowded, but handed on intact to the next generation.

The Regulation 19 consultation on the Local Plan for Buckinghamshire closes on 6 September 2026. Each of our four parish councils will be submitting its own representation, alongside a joint statement — but these don't replace your own voice, and we'd encourage every resident to submit their own comments too.
