A BIG thank you to all who helped with the Bowls England Big Weekend. As usual there was total mayhem with 20 or so children playing the several games on offer. They all left with medals, trophies, ‘Smarties’ and big smiles. Special thanks to Brian Isom for doing taster sessions with a number of adults who left with application forms. As always Brian and Ken made the green very festive, though, maybe the balloons needed a bit more puff. Daphne, Keith, and Barry did so well keeping the enthusiastic youngsters in order and thanks to Louise and the girls for keeping a steady flow of cakes, tea, and coffee.

We had a special visitor Jon Hart the Head of Bowls Development Alliance in association with Bowls England. He came at 12:30pm and did not leave until 4:30pm. He commented on the friendly nature of the club and on the trouble taken to ensure that everyone who came into the club was looked after. He watched fascinated by the ‘Two Jacks’ challenge played by members in the afternoon and was amused by the steady flow of banter as the players got to grips with the concept and a degree of friendly competition kicked in. The weather was so good which made the day a very pleasant and enjoyable one.
