The club tour 2022 took place from 5th August - 8th August when we were based at Bosworth Hall Hotel in Market Bosworth, Leicestershire and what an enjoyable weekend we had. We arrived on the Friday afternoon which gave us time to unpack and walk the short distance to have a look round the picturesque village. The hotel was perfect for our needs and some of our more energetic members took full advantage of the pool and well equipped gym.

On Saturday we made the very short trip to Market Bosworth Bowling Club (see the picture taken in front of their clubhouse )where we received a wonderfully warm welcome and enjoyed bowling on their excellent green. We won on 2 of the 5 rinks but this was not enough to prevent us going down to a narrow defeat.

This became something of a trend when, on our visit to Coalville Bowling Club on Sunday, we again won on 2 of the rinks but went down to defeat. The welcome we received there was equally friendly although the very dry and bare green proved to be very challenging.

We left Market Bosworth on Monday morning to travel home with a visit to Portishead Bowling Club en route. Despite some traffic issues on the M5, we arrived at the club in time to play. Once again we were very warmly received by a friendly group of bowlers and once again, we went down to a narrow defeat after winning on 2 of the 5 rinks.

This was an extremely successful tour which was enjoyed by all of the 21 bowlers and 10 non bowlers who travelled with us. The credit, and our thanks, for this must go to Brian and Shirley Parker who organised everything so well that the weekend proceeded very smoothly.

Additional thanks go to our coach driver Wesley who showed once again how lucky we have been to have his services over many years with his obliging nature and no little skill in manoeuvring the coach in some very tight spots.

Thanks also go to Jan Henderson who provided us with challenging quizzes on 2 of the evenings and who also ran the sweeps each day as we bet on who would be the most successful skip.
