Wind Farms
Llangurig Community Council
The Planning Application for one Windfarm in
Llangurig submitted by Bute Energy is now live.
Bute Energy have submitted a Planning Application for 12 wind turbines
at Rhiwlas, just south of Llangurig. It is anticipated that a second
application will be made for 6 wind turbines at Banc Du to the north of
the village. To put the locations into perspective these wind turbines will
be adjacent to or very near the Bryn Titli and Bryn Blaen existing wind
farms respectively. The proposed wind turbines will stand over 200
metres high, approximately double the height of those erected at Bryn
Blaen wind farm, which is clearly visible from Llanidloes.
Rhiwlas and Banc Du windfarms will be connected to each other by an
underground cable and the grid connection is proposed to run from
Rhiwlas northwards towards Cefn Coch on an overhead line.
Bute Energy have made a number of public presentations/consultations
over the last couple of years and Saving Banc Du & Rhiwlas Action
Group, which actively oppose these plans, have too but on a smaller
scale.
In light of the effect these applications, if granted, may have on the lives
of residents of Llangurig your Community Council is bringing this to your
notice.
Comments on and objections to the Rhiwlas application must be made
to PEDW before 21st September 2026 on the following link
