Sustrans are working with Thanet District Council to develop a Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (CWIP). Sustrans is the charity making it easier for people to walk and cycle.

In June this year we held some preliminary in-person workshops and throughout July and August we ran an online consultation tool to help us understand where people in Thanet wanted to walk and cycle, and what the main barriers preventing them are.

Using the information gathered at these workshops and through the online consultation tool, in combination with the outputs of desk-based analysis, we have drafted a walking and cycling network for the rural part of Thanet district, to connect with the urban network developed in 2021.

We would like to invite you to a follow up public engagement workshop to review the draft network and help us understand what we’ve got right and what we could improve. We also want to hear which routes are the highest priority and should be delivered first.

The CWIP is a district wide plan which will help Thanet combat climate change whilst also improving air quality, health, and access for everyone. It seeks to connect people and places across the district with safe and accessible routes for everyone and anyone to travel in a more sustainable way.

The workshop will be held as a drop-in event between 2:30pm and 6:30pm on Monday 18th September at Minster Village Hall, High Street, Minster, Ramsgate, CT12 4BU

You DO NOT need to attend the whole event. Just drop-in for however long you want, even if it’s just for 10 minutes.

We will be holding an online engagement workshop for Local Authority Officers and Elected Members on Thursday 21st September between 2pm and 4pm. You will receive a separate invite and link soon.

We are also developing an online consultation tool which will be available later in September if you can’t attend a workshop.
