Despite being such an intensively-farmed landscape and with such blisteringly hot and very dry summers, wildlife has managed to keep going.  Like most of the country we have very few hedgehogs, although some are still thriving at Top Minting.

In over 20 years here, we have noticed a massive increase in Common Buzzard and Red Kite sitings and using the Merlin App in the back garden, have compiled a list of bird species identified in Gautby from their bird song since June 2026:
