Consultation - Dog Control Order 2024

Overview

We want to hear your views on whether the Public Spaces (Dog Control) Order introduced in 2015 and renewed in 2018 and 2021 should be extended for a further three-year period and whether the areas of land covered, or the other requirements of the Order, should be amended.

The order states that:

  • Owners must pick up their dog’s faeces on any land to which the public have access.
  • Owners must keep their dogs on leads in specified burial grounds, cemeteries and churchyards.
  • Dogs are banned from specified fenced children’s play areas.
  • Owners must produce, when directed by an authorised officer, suitable means, such as a bag, for removing dog faeces from designated land.

The consultation will run from Monday 12th February 2024 to Friday 22nd March 2024.

Paper copies of the consultation form are available from the Council Offices in Worksop and Retford.

Why your views matter

By answering our questionnaire you will be able to tell us what you think about the policy. The final question is about the Order as a whole and is where you can record any views not already given.

After the consultation has been completed, a report will be presented to a meeting of the Council's Cabinet, with a referral required to full Council, where the Order can be made.

Please visit www.bassetlaw.gov.uk to complete the questionnaire
