PUBLIC NOTICE

It has come to the attention of the Parish Council that an unauthorised firework display was held on the recreation ground last night (5th November) which was not sanctioned by either the Parish Council or the National Trust. This was not a legal public firework display.

The Parish Council had already announced in the village magazine the reasons why a firework display could not be held on the recreation ground, so it was very disappointing to hear that some irresponsible persons have taken it upon themselves to go ahead anyway.

There could have been far reaching consequences as a result of the actions of these individuals. Should an incident/accident have occurred as a result of this display, emergency vehicles would not have been able to get into the grounds as the barrier and gates were locked.

Despite the recreation ground being open to the public, it is private land, and any events held need prior permission from both the Parish Council and the National Trust.

The Parish Council have been working closely with the National Trust to make the recreation ground and pavilion a more accessible and enjoyable place for residents to go, but guidelines have to be followed. There are already plans to hold a variety of events next year, so please do not let these careless, irresponsible minority spoil it for the majority.

Rules and legislation are there for a reason.
