Proposed Change of Speed Limit: 30 mph → 20 mph

The Parish Council is seeking residents' views on whether Moulsford should adopt a 20 mph speed limit. Your feedback will help guide decisions that affect the whole community.

There are 4 ways to submit this form:

• Email: Fill in the form (copy and paste from here) and email it to the Parish Council: parishclerk@moulsford-pc.org.uk

• Post/Drop-off: Fill out the paper form (distributed with the Moulsford news) and drop it into the letterbox at Hillside on Underhill (near the Beetle and Wedge Sign).

PART 3 — Background on the Proposed Change

Council Action So Far

• The Council agreed to explore possible traffic-calming measures and delegated the creation of a Traffic Management Working Group to consider options.

• Volunteers were sought over an 18-month period to join the working group. No working group has been successfully formed, and no alternative proposals have been developed for consideration.

Potential Advantages of a 20 mph Limit

• Improved safety for pedestrians, children, older residents, and cyclists.

• No cost to the village, as this would take advantage of an Oxfordshire County Council traffic management scheme.

• A calmer, quieter village environment.

• Reduced risk and severity of accidents.

• Consistency with wider national use of 20 mph zones in residential areas.

Potential Disadvantages of a 20 mph Limit

• Slightly longer travel times for drivers.

• Risk of drivers ignoring the limit without increased enforcement.

• Possible need for additional signage or traffic-calming measures.

• Some residents may feel the change is unnecessary.
