The Parish Council has been in contact with Fernham Homes about the works traffic along Church Lane and Denham Road. Part of this route is also being used by Network Rail for their shoring works along the rail embankment.

The construction route for Fernham Homes from the A249 to Newington is via the Sheppey Way, Stickfast Lane, and the Iwade Road, then on to Church Lane and Denham Road. Fernham Homes have considered suggestions for alternative routes through the village but feel that this remains the best route. The Parish Council will continue to raise any issues with Fernham Homes. We encourage residents to notify us of any new issues by emailing clerk@newington-pc.gov.uk.

Currently, Fernham Homes traffic is mainly from their groundsworks contractor, Kingsheath Construction. They will remain the principal contractor up to December 2026. Fernham Homes have gate personnel on site to manage traffic in and out.
