WELCOME TO THE NEWTON ON THE MOOR AND SWARLAND PARISH COUNCIL WEBSITE

The parish comprises the two named villages of Newton on the Moor and Swarland plus the hamlets of Hartlaw and Hazon. It spans the A1 and is close to the market towns of Alnwick and Morpeth. With a recorded history going back to thirteenth century, each village has a distinctive identity. Newton on the Moor was designated a Conservation Area in 1972 and Swarland is distinctive for its association with the Fountains Abbey settlement of the 1930s.

Both settlements provide a range of facilities including Swarland Village Hall, Jubilee Hall, Vyner Park, a primary school,  a licenced village Club and Nelson’s – a family friendly café.
