Grant Funding

Supporting Local Community Projects

Nuthurst Parish Council is committed to supporting projects and organisations that benefit the local community. Through its grant scheme, the Parish Council provides financial assistance to eligible groups delivering activities, services, and initiatives that improve life for residents across the Parish.

Grant funding is primarily raised through the Parish Council precept, collected as part of Council Tax by Horsham District Council. Because these are public funds, all applications are assessed fairly, transparently, and responsibly.

Who Can Apply?

Grants may be awarded to organisations operating within the Parish that have:

  • Charitable objectives
  • Cultural or recreational aims
  • Environmental projects
  • Voluntary or community-based activities

The Parish Council welcomes applications from groups whose work provides a clear and positive benefit to Parish residents.

What Can Grants Be Used For?

Funding may be considered for projects including:

  • Purchase of equipment
  • Improvement of recreational facilities
  • Community events and celebrations
  • Environmental improvements
  • Projects that enhance quality of life
  • Initiatives that promote the Parish positively
  • Temporary support for established organisations experiencing financial difficulty

Priority is given to projects that deliver timely, practical, and measurable benefits to the local community.

Funding Availability

The total grant budget is agreed annually by the Parish Council as part of its budget-setting process.

Grant awards made during the financial year will not exceed the approved budget unless otherwise agreed at a Full Council meeting.

How to Apply

Application forms are available from the Parish Clerk or via the Council website.

Applicants must:

  1. Complete the official application form
  2. Provide all requested supporting documents
  3. Submit the application to the Clerk before the relevant meeting deadline

Incomplete applications cannot be considered.

Applications are normally reviewed quarterly at Full Council meetings. Applicants will usually receive written confirmation of the decision within two weeks of the meeting.

Grant Conditions

Successful applicants must agree to the following conditions:

  • Grants must only be used for the approved purpose
  • Funding cannot normally be awarded retrospectively
  • Grants are generally awarded for projects lasting up to 12 months
  • Evidence of expenditure may be requested
  • Any unused funds must be returned
  • If a project does not proceed, the full grant must be repaid
  • Future applications may be affected if conditions are not met
  • Recipients should acknowledge Parish Council support in publicity or communications related to the funded project

The Council reserves the right to monitor how grant funding is used to ensure it achieves the intended community benefit.
