OPEN DAY 2025

COME ALONG AND JOIN IN COME ALONG AND JOIN IN

Open Day

On Saturday the Club hosted their annual Open Day at the Vale. It was a dry but cold morning but the afternoon was warm and sunny.  Twenty one Club members were on hand  to help in meeting and greeting visitors both in the clubroom and on the green. Free Tea, coffee and biscuits were readily available and for those who wanted to spend money, the bar was open.

All six rinks were set up to enable newcomers to bowling to have a go. Equipment designed to help people with disabilities was on show and hopefully this will give encouragement to people with disabilities to take up the sport. Each rink had two or more experienced bowlers on hand to give basic advice and to help visitors to enjoy their time on the green. The majority of the those who attended the day were local, others from further afield. A couple from Kent, who are both experienced bowlers and are intending to move to Oakham, were delighted to have found the club on Open Day. They enjoyed their afternoon and are now looking forward to their move and to  joining the club

Before leaving the club all  visitors were asked about their experience and agreed any follow up arrangements with the New Members Officer. Many expressed an intention  to come to  the club CHUMMY  sessions to learn more about bowls and in particular the opportunity to receive some coaching.

The club are grateful to the many shops, Pubs/Restaurants, Town Council and other venues for displaying |Posters and to the volunteers who delivered Leaflets around the Town.
