Portishead Probus Club, located in Portishead, is a club for retired / semi retired persons who have held some form of responsible position in the community and who appreciate some social interaction with other like minded people. Membership is not restricted to business or professional male persons only.
Probus is a non-sectarian, non-political, non-fundraising organisation confining its activities to the social, educational and welfare needs of its members. There is no maximum age and the minimum age can be as low as 55. Our club operates completely autonomously.
We meet at Clarence House, Portishead BS20 6PY every 3rd Wednesday of the month at 12-00 noon until approx. 3-00pm for a chat, a drink, lunch, coffee and an interesting talk. We hold a Special Lunch twice a year when wives, partners and friends can join us.
Our Clarence House venue can be found on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100093192996977
From time to time we organise trips to local places of interest.
We are always looking to welcome new members, so if you would like to come then do ask about joining us, or to have a trial visit, then contact our Secretary, Brian Lazenby, via Email - brianlazenby@btinternet.com or Call phone 07711 385825
See our Facebook www.facebook.com/groups/1323496911699889 for the latest up-to-date information.
Lookout for our entry in the latest edition of the local Enjoy Portishead https://www.visitportishead.net/media.php and North Somerset Times https://edition.pagesuite.com/html5/reader/ Free printed copies of these are available weekly or monthly from many local shops.
Footnote - Our picture features the Lockside sculpture “Ship to Shore” by locally born artist, Jon Buck, whose family were mariners. Located on the eastern side of the lock it reflects on the worldwide Portishead Radio Station and Probus member’s own dichotomy of looking back on the majority of their lives, whilst still positively looking forward to their futures.
