REPORT ON A VERY RAINY DAY FOR THE LEN CHUBB TROPHY.

9 PLAYERS TOOK PART WHICH MEANT THAT ONE GAME WAS PLAYED IN ROUND ONE. THIS RESULTED IN STEVE FARNDEN BEATING MARTIN EGGLETON. ROUND TWO SAW STEVE FARNDEN"S GLORY BEING SHORT LIVED WHEN HE WAS BEATEN BYSTEVE PALMER. STEVE SMITH WAS SURPRISINGLY BEATEN BY PETER ELLARD ,EDDIE MIFSUD BEAT TREVOR TYMON AND THE LAST QUALIFIER FOR THE SEMI--FINALS WAS EXTREMELY LUCKY BOB BLOOMFIELD WHO BEAT ANDY HIBBERD. PETER ELLARD CONTINUED HIS FINE RUN BY REACHING THE FINAL BY BEATING STEVE PALMER. THE SECOND SEMI SAW EDDIE MIFSUD EASING PAST BOB BLOOMFIELD.

THE FINAL WAS PLAYED IN THE RAIN WHICH HAD PERSISTED FOR MOST OF THE TOURNAMENT. THE MALTESE FALCAN,EDDIE MIFSUD,WON THROUGH TO BECOME THE LEN CHUBB CHAMPION AND PETER ELLARD HAD TO SETTLE FOR FOR THE RUNNERS UP SPOT FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW.

MASSIVE THANKS FOR ALL OF THE MARKERS WHO MADE THE TOURNAMENT A GREAT SUCCESS.

FINALLY I WOULD LIKE TO CONGRATULATE ANDY HIBBERD WHO NARROWLY LOST HIS P AND D SINGLES FINAL 19-21 ON SATURDAY. BOB BLOOMFIELD.
