With the summer season now done & dusted someone had the bright idea of taking Oriory indoors for the winter. This entailed entering a team in the Palmerston Cup, This is an Open competition for outdoor bowling clubs to compete against each other on the indoor carpet and is a means of keeping in touch with members when their club is closed. Three triples rinks playing 18 ends at Palmerston Indoor Bowls Club at Fareham on a Sunday night.

Recruitment took place at the Presentation night and we scraped together 9 players for the opening game on Bonfire Night, Den Patrick, Nigel Brown & Steve Smith, Tony Cook, Trevor Doswell & Mike Elliott and finally Andy Chadwick, Albie Somerset & Andy Hibberd carried the black, silver & gold against last years champions Fareham Tigers who had the Pullens & Cyril Friend in their numbers. Needless to say with so many with little or no indoor experience we took a hammering by a team who obviously we're at home in there. Steve only list on the last end, while Mike lost out to the Pullen rink while Andy's rink felt generous & gave Cyril a 20-0 start before we won the second half 10-6. Overall we lost 31-65 which considering our inexperience and the opposition wasn't too bad,

Our next game isn't until 3rd December against the weaker of the 3 Fareham teams and we should have some of our "Pro's" available for selection so who knows we may even get some points.

The Palmerston club are very much on the bowl and update their website with tables and reports.
