A Visit to St Mary's Primary School

On a blisteringly hot Wednesday morning 5 club members attended St Mary's School to introduce children from Years 4, 5 and 6 to the game of Lawn Bowls.

This was part of the schools Sports week in which the children got to experience sports they may otherwise not come into contact with.

Chris, Deanne, Lynn, Christine and Steve took the children through several skills related activites, although the surface (school playing field) was not quite what we are used to.

The children were delightful, very well behaved and really enthusiastic. Many had a natural talent for the game and quickly understood about the bias and loved having their bowls 'chalked' when they achieved one of the tasks.

We hope to see some of them again at our Friday night sessions along with their parents and hope that we can do similar events in the future to spread the game of Bowls to a wider audience.
