"To all the wonderful customers, friends and supporters of St George’s,

It has been my great privilege to serve you and play my part in the success of Peterborough’s hydrotherapy pool over the last five years. Together, we have transformed a facility that was two months from closure into a thriving community service and a success story for the people of Peterborough, and this is something of which we can be immeasurably proud.

A rolling stone gathers no moss, however, and it is time for me to progress in my career in a new venture. Likewise, St George’s is so popular and successful that new resources and ideas are needed to continue its development.

To all the staff, volunteers and supporters who have worked and battled so hard to ensure the pool remains open for people, I thank you so much, and it has been a real pleasure to work with you all.  I could create a smorgasbord of names to thank but would inevitably miss someone out, but you know who you are.

I hope you reflect on your input and how you make such a positive difference to the lives of thousands. As Laura, the new supervisor, will find out soon enough, that difference becomes evident each time a new customer arrives at the pool, fatigued by constant pain and at a point where the effects of painkillers are redundant. The joy of seeing their faces as they enter the water and – for the first time in a long while – they are relieved of pain is something you cannot put a price on.

To every customer who has ventured through the pool’s doors, and to everyone who has recommended St George’s to a friend or family member, thank you for helping keep the pool going, and I wish you all the best with your health for the future.

Please give your utmost support to Laura, and the St George’s team in the same way you welcomed me in 2013, and I look forward to hearing tremendous and wonderful things about St George’s and the new pool.

With best wishes to you all,
