We have been advised by Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks that in the event of a prolonged power outage this weekend there is a contingency plan that would involve the use of the Village Hall as a central facility with emergency power.

If circumstances necessitate this then we will post a notice on the Village Facebook page as mobile signal is often still available for some time as the towers have backup generators which last for some time.

You can also call 105 for more information about any power cuts

Please look out for any vulnerable neighbours in the event of a power cut.

The general advice provided by the power networks is:

  1. Put together an emergency pack which should include:
    • List of emergency contact numbers
    • Analogue phone or portable mobile phone charger
    • Battery operated or wind up torch or radio
    • Spare batteries if needed
    • Essential medication
    • Three days' supply of bottled water and ready to eat food that won't spoil
    • Winter clothes and spare blankets
  2. Regularly check weather forecasts
  3. Plan for alternative ways to keep warm if your heating is disrupted
