Stockbridge has kept its traditional Hampshire 'broad street', lined with fine brick houses. The High Street enjoys a wide variety of shops from art galleries and boutiques to specialist food shops, including a fishmonger, greengrocer and butcher.
There is a good choice of coffee shops, restaurants, traditional inns and the stylish Grosvenor Hotel, offering accommodation and local foods. Visitors can browse the independent shops and art galleries on the High Street, or relax and watch the well-fed trout dart and dive in one of the many carriers of the River Test that run south under the town, heading for Southampton Water.
The village is well served with three churches, historic cemeteries, a primary and pre-school, a combined police and fire station, dentist and a doctor's surgery. Stockbridge Town Hall hosts many events, including film nights, and rooms can be hired at very reasonable rates. A map board is located on the High Street. There are also a number of guides to held explore the village and its surroundings.
Stockbridge Parish Council usually meets on the third Thursday each month, except for August, when there is no meeting because of the holiday season, and December when the meeting is held on the second Thursday of the month. A full list of meeting dates can be found in our Meetings section. Meetings are usually held, in public, at Stockbridge Town Hall at 7.15pm, unless stated otherwise.
