Autumn has certainly arrived! The trees are changing colours giving us a magnificent display. It really makes you appreciate how lucky we are to live here. The environment certainly does affect our sense of well-being. On that note, a big thank you to all the volunteers and to organiser Cllr Vicky Cauvain for their efforts on the recent Litter pick. People giving up their time to help the Community certainly makes a difference. If we all try to litter pick outside our homes if at all possible it makes the Village look a lot better.

As the dark evenings arrive we have for your entertainment a production – join Edwyrdian tales for an evening of dark delights on their second national tour of ghostly tales of dread. I saw Matthew Wood perform last year and he was amazing so I thought I would bring it to Tendring for your enjoyment. There will be a bar serving drinks both before and after the show for those of you who will need some dutch courage to go home alone! All profits will go to local causes. This will include the local foodbank . Please see the poster published later in the magazine for details on how to get tickets. The performance will take place in the Village Hall on 15th November at 7.30pm. If you have difficulty accessing the link let me know and I can do it for you. It would be best to book ahead as this is advertised nationally and many of his performances are sold out.
We are also planning to run the refreshment bar after the Carol service at St Edmund's on 18th December due to start at 6pm. There will be a cost for refreshments and the profits will go to local causes. We will be turning on the lights in the Memorial garden and other locations after the service. You are all more than welcome to attend and start the Christmas celebrations with us.

There was only one planning application this month 25/01197 for a sensory garden with raised planting area and pergola at Tendring Meadows Care Home . The Council agreed to pass this application and now it goes to the District Council for their approval.

Just to update you on Goose Green developments we are awaiting a third quotation in accordance with our standing orders for the new equipment. Hopefully this will reach a conclusion and we can authorise the new toddler equipment soon.

Also following guidance from local associations we have decided to update our emails and website to ensure compatibility with various policies issued by the government. Watch this space and I will confirm when these changes will be made. Currently our Clerk is working with the provider to transfer our policies etc onto the new platform.

We have also received notice of the conclusion of Audit for 2024-5 year ending March 2025. This showed no further action to be necessary. Thanks to our Clerk Marie Snell for her hard work on this.

Having been called to an Extraordinary meeting ,I received an update on the introduction of Unitary Council this month . Basically the District Council is backing a proposal to create 5 unitary Council across the county. Under this plan, Colchester will join with Braintree and Tendring to form a new authority responsible for major services like social care, schools and road maintenance. The final decision will be made by the Government in early 2026. To find out more please access https:/www.essexlgrhub.org.uk.

This month has seen Essex County Council and Tendring District Council issue a stop notice for the House/Venue on Crow lane to prevent further dumping of waste materials on the property. This followed a number of concerns voiced by residents alarmed at the amount of waste being dumped. These Councils will now take over this case and act appropriately to maintain the environment.

Our next meetings are
Monday 27th October at 7.30pm in the Village hall. Monday 24th November at 7.30pm in the Village hall. Monday 22nd December at 7.30pm in the Village hall.( Planning only)

All are welcome to attend

Cllr Jill Brattan
Chair of Tendring Parish Council.
