Car Sharing Policy

Garden Visit Car Sharing Policy

Purpose
This policy applies to all garden visits and other outings organised by The Garden Shed Club.

Car Sharing
● Car sharing is entirely voluntary
● The Club may help members make contact with each other but does not provide or operate transport
● All travel arrangements are made privately between drivers and passengers

Drivers
Drivers are responsible for ensuring that:
● They hold a valid driving licence
● Their vehicle is roadworthy, taxed and has a valid MOT where required
● They have appropriate motor insurance for the journey
● They comply with all road traffic laws

Passengers
Passengers travel at their own discretion and are responsible for agreeing arrangements directly with the driver.

Responsibility
The Club accepts no responsibility or liability for journeys undertaken by members to or from Club events. Responsibility for the safe operation of a vehicle rests solely with the driver, and any claims arising from a road traffic accident are a matter for the driver’s motor insurer.

Committee
The Committee’s role is limited to organising visits and, where requested, facilitating contact between members who wish to share transport. The Committee does not allocate passengers to drivers or supervise journeys.
