Overhanging branches and vegetation
West Ilsley Parish Council
We would like to remind everyone who has vegetation in their garden to check whether this is affecting the use of any adjacent footways or roads and to ensure it is cut back if this is the case. The owner or occupier of a property has a legal responsibility (Highway Act 1980 s154) to ensure that the ‘public highway’ adjacent to a property is not obstructed by vegetation from their property. The definition of ‘public highway’ covers both roads and pedestrian footways. Please could you ensure any growth is cut back as soon as possible? If vegetation is causing an obstruction, this can be reported to West Berkshire Council using its online reporting system: https://www.westberks.gov.uk/article/37565/Report-a-Problem-here
