Wilmington Village Hall

Wilmington Village Hall Wilmington Village Hall

The Village Hall is there for all to use.  It was gifted to the residents of Wilmington via a charitable trust established in 1951, previously having been the Village School.  The School bell is still there !  The Village Hall is there as a resource for the residents of Widworthy and Wilmington to use and is also available for others to hire and use.

We have a good size Hall (for upto 65 people), The Lady Alison Meeting Room (seating 10-15 people), a compact kitchen and  parking at the rear.

The main Hall can be hired at the more than reasonable rate of £5/hour (minimum charge £10) for an event, party or gathering organised by Wilmington residents.

The meeting room can be hired at no cost by local groups.

Hire of the hall includes free lighting (recently upgraded), use of kitchen facilities, folding tables, chairs and use of car park. ‘Instant’ radiant heating is provided by wall mounted heaters and paid for by users.

By arrangement, for longer periods of background heating, the main hall biomass wood pellet heater can be lit.

We are pleased to have a very good relationship with Fatcity Antiques - https://www.fatcityantiques.com/ -  as a long term user who also keep the Hall clean and tidy for us !  Their items are display in the main hall and they are open from 11am to 4pm every Saturday.  Pop in and see them ….

Our arrangement with Fatcity Antiques allows the Hall to be hired on ALL days of the week (including Saturdays) whereby their items are moved to leave the main Hall and / or Lady Alison room clear.

Can you help us ?

There are currently five Trustees who are responsible for making the Hall available for use of residents and finding sufficient income to cover essential costs which include annual insurance, fire safety and electrical inspections and certificates, which are incurred whether or not the Hall is used.  The Hall has no external source of funding, the only income being hire fees.

The committee would really welcome any resident who wants to organise any village event or activity to bring residents together or to generate income. Unfortunately, in recent years, several trustees have stood down due to age or ill health and current trustees would welcome any resident willing to become an active member and share key tasks - for example to apply for any grant funding or hall upkeep.
