Welcome to Wingrave Bowls Club. This friendly lawn bowls club is located on the recreation ground in the centre of the beautiful village of Wingrave, Buckinghamshire. The Club was formed in 1925 and is managed and operated on a voluntary basis by its members. We offer a warm welcome to new members of all ages and any experience.
The five rink outdoor bowls green is in a picturesque setting surrounded by the village church, the Rose and Crown pub, and listed Rothschild houses. Our facilities include a club-house with changing rooms, a kitchen and licensed bar.
The green is open from the end of April to the end of September and we have a "roll-up" (friendly, informal bowls) every Monday evening throughout the season from 4pm to dusk. If you have never played before, but would like to give bowls a try, just come along to one of these evenings. We will provide all necessary equipment.
We are a mixed Club and play men's, ladies' and mixed friendly and competitive matches with clubs in the surrounding areas. Internal Club competitions are played throughout the season. Members do not have to play in the competitions and can simply play just for fun. Rinks are available for use by Club members on most days throughout the season.
We organise social events throughout the year including galas, quiz nights, informal matches against other village sports clubs and an annual presentation dinner. We organise a Club tour every year and have visited many destinations in the UK and Portugal.
For a very modest annual subscription, few sports can match bowls in providing so much playing time and social activity for so little outlay. Come and join us one warm summer evening on the green and enjoy the environment, there is nothing better!
