How to change DNS settings in GoDaddy.com

The following guide is intended for website owners whose domains are hosted by GoDaddy.com

If you’d like to make it even easier for visitors to find your HugoFox page you can connect it to your own domain name. Below is a simple, step by step, guide to configuring your domain name so it links to your new HugoFox website.

[For privacy reasons, certain parts of images in this guide have been blurred. This will not affect the updating of your settings in any way.]

1. Log into your account by clicking on “Sign In” at the top of the page:

A bar will appear at the top of the page where you can enter your login details:

If you cannot remember your login details, click on the “Forgot your password?” link below the login box to reset your password.

2. Once logged in, you should see a page like this:

Click on the plus arrow next to "Domains":

This will expand the box so you can view all the domains you have:

3. Click on “Manage” next to the domain name you want to edit:

4. You will now be on a page headed “Domain Details”: Click on "DNS Zone File":

5. All the information about your domain will now be shown on that page. Click on "Add Record":

A pop up box will appear in the centre of the page:

6. Click on "Select Record" and then select the "CNAME (Alias)" option:

The pop-up box will now expand:

7. In the "Host" box type: www

8. In the "Points To" box type: cname-customsite.hugofox.com

9. You do not need to make any changes to the box labelled "TTL"

Once you have entered those details, the two boxes which were faded out will turn green.

10. Click on "Finish" to save your settings.

Once you have made the changes, simply get in touch with us, and we’ll make the necessary changes at our end to finalise the transfer of your domain name!

Please keep in mind that the changes you have just made will take anything between 24 and 72 hours to be fully configured, so don’t be worried if you cannot see your website yet.
