BUCKS VPs (43) MATCH MAY 30TH 2024
BEDS VPs (43) MATCH REPORT MAY 30TH 2024
May 31st Stony Stratford B.C.hosted our home fixture against the Buckingham VPs B.A. and on
arrival we were treated to tea and biscuits prior to the game which was most enjoyable and
welcoming
The weather predicted for the afternoon did not look too good with prolonged rain due The
forecast proved to be correct as we had to abandon the game after 12 ends, and at that time the
rain did not seemed to abating.
Initially we had a glut of players totalling 32 so selecting a team would not be a difficult issue but
how things change quickly because within a few days we were reduced to 23 due to players
becoming unavailable for one reason or another.
Two of our players Robin Mowe and Peter Glennon shared half a game each but sadly Robin only
played 6 ends because the game was called off early . Bucks VPs were a player short so it was
decided where appropriate to play rinks against a triple and not to enforce the deduction of 25%
off the triple score.
The game itself was relatively even but we did have a very successful rink being John Blyth, June
Barber, Peter Lill and Gervais Cave at the helm. With their high score it certainly helped us win the
match with the result being 69-58 in our favour. Well done and congratulations to them all.
It is to be noted that Peter Lill has now been on the highest winning rink for the last three matches
so well done to Peter.
We were very fortunate in getting a guest player at short notice namely June Barber who had
quite a remarkable afternoon. She received a small memento for guesting for us and then ended
up being in the highest winning rink and to cap it all came away by winning one of the raffle
prizes.
Brilliant and congratulations to June.
The green was immaculately manicured, in tip top condition and played extremely well, so top
marks to the Stony Stratford green keepers for doing a grand job.
Again commemorative pens were given to all the players from Bucks VPs together with the bar
and catering staff who did a great job.
We were presented to an excellent meal after the game being a ham salad, peaches and ice
cream for pudding followed by cheese and biscuits. It was a most enjoyable meal.
Thanks were given to to Stony Stratford B.C.for the use of their green and facilities.
A great afternoon was had by all the players apart for the rain which we have no control.
