Ladies Group
The long standing and well established Ladies Group informally meet on the last Wednesday of every month, usually in each other's homes, to enjoy talks, card or board games and seasonal parties.
Recent events have included a walk in Studley Roger, with picnic, a talk on the Life and Times of a Victorian Artist, a flower arranging demonstration, a summer party in the garden at the home of one of the members and frequent local wildlife talks by the village's resident wildlife expert.

Reports from Previous Meetings.
Getting Crafty
The Group met at the home of Elisabeth Wilkinson, who had worked hard beforehand to prepare a variety of crafts for members to try. It has been reported that some of the items made were more successful than others, but the meeting caused much chatter, lots of enjoyment and laughter and an appreciation of the expert help of the evening's hostess.
The evening finished with Christmas cake accompanied by prosecco.
Some of the results can be seen in the pictures below.

It's Not Just Wood-It's So Much More.
A talk about the work of the Ripon Men's Shed, a community group, that also creates many wonderful items in wood (among other things) was given by Bishop Monkton resident, Tony Johnson, representing the “Shed”. He gave a fascinating and insightful presentation into the workings of the group, its objectives, achievements and ongoing plans.

Talking Heads & Lots of Chatter.
Members were entertained with excerpts from Alan's Bennett’s ‘Talking Heads’ read by Pauline Beecroft and Kathryn Bethel. The monologues they chose were ‘Chip in the Sugar’ and ‘Love among the Lentils. ‘
Jen Barker, who had directed the original play 19 years ago, brought some photographs of the original performance.
The evening, a most interesting and enjoyable one, was hosted by Jane Taplin.
