AND WHAT A DELIGHTFUL STORY THIS IS

Well Done Evelyn and Sophie Clarkson.

These two young ladies, Evelyn aged six and Sophie, aged four, gave up two hours of their Sunday morning to man a pop up stall outside their beckside home in the centre of the village to raise funds for the Friends of Bishop Monkton School. And very successful and popular it proved too, as the girls' efforts resulted in a donation of £33.20.

Responding to Dad's invitation on Facebook (Bishop Monkton Together) to “pop on down”, around 30 villagers did just that and enjoyed a variety of refreshments, all reasonably priced at 50p. On offer was tea and coffee (supplied by a very busy Mum & Dad), home-made lemonade, squash and cakes and cookies. Sophie and Evelyn apparently “loved it”, while Dad, Oliver, said “We are very proud of them”.

This is just the start of a busy fund raising week for the school as the annual BeckBusters race takes place this Sunday (September 29th), an event not just for runners, but for everyone in the village. If you don't want to run, you could cheer on, clap and encourage those who are participating or wander into the school yard and try your hand at tombola, buy a cake or have a cuppa. All to raise funds for the school.

And of course the sun will shine.
