Households in Bishop Monkton who have not yet got their new blue recycling bins might not get them for several weeks more. ‘Bishop Monkton Today’ contacted North Yorkshire Council after many villagers reported that they had not received their promised new bin. A spokeswoman for the Council told us “We hope to have delivered the new recycling bins to the remainder of the village by the end of September.”

Letters promising the delivery of the new bins ‘within the next few weeks’ were received throughout the village early in August. The first batch of the new bins were delivered to the village last week. We asked the Council to explain why it was necessary for two separate deliveries to be made to the village several weeks apart. A spokeswoman said she wasn’t able to explain the reason for this.

The new blue wheelie bins replace the black recycling boxes and can be used for all recyclable materials except paper, card and cardboard which still need to go in the existing blue recycling bags.
