The Clerk of Bishop Monkton Parish Council, who's been on sick leave for several weeks, is expected to return to work soon. "Bishop Monkton Today' understands that the Council is hoping that Sue Reid will be back in time for the next regular meeting on September 17th.

The Council recently set up a staffing committee to monitor the work of the Clerk, its sole employee. The Committee met for the first time last month and it's understood that meeting included a discussion with the Clerk about her role. Back in April, several villagers expressed concern about a set of minutes written by the Clerk which appeared to show a series of problems within the Council including difficulties between the Clerk and some councillors. It's understood that the Committee is working with the Clerk to enable her to continue in the role.

While the Clerk remains on sick leave, people wanting to contact the Council are asked to get in touch with individual councillors.
