WATER WARNING FROM FLOOD GROUP MEMBER
BISHOP MONKTON TODAY
A member of the village's Flood Action Group is asking people to look out for overflowing manholes during the coming week's expected rainfall. Bob Upton says it's important for evidence to be gathered as part of the continuing discussions with Yorkshire Water about flooding problems in the village.
Two weeks ago the area's MP, Sir Alec Shelbrooke, visited Bishop Monkton and met with Yorkshire Water and the Environment Agency with some parish councillors and a representative of BMAG also in attendance. At the meeting Yorkshire Water said they had not received any reports of overflowing manholes. Since then YW staff have been seen apparently installing sensors at various places in the village.
After yesterday's heavy rain, further rain is forecast for the village on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday although it's not currently expected to be very heavy.
The number to report problems to Yorkshire Water is 0345 1242424 .
