Bishopstoke and Fair Oak Good Neighbours was formed in 1985 and the group is one of the 125 groups the come under the Good Neighbours Network umbrella
Run totally by volunteers our aim is to provide transport to help elderly and infirm people to get to hospital, doctors and other medical appointments, especially those who have no family or friends available to help.
Why not become a volunteer ? Being a volunteer can be very rewarding, knowing you are helping local people less fortunate than yourself can give you a sense of achievement, plus you are meeting new people who are like minded.
There are several roles that you get involved with; perhaps being a coordinator, or if you like driving you can take clients to their appointments and home again. Or perhaps helping out with admin, all volunteers are very welcome
A coordinator receives phone calls to our phone line and notes who needs a lift and where and contacts a driver to check if they are available to take the client, if they are they ring the client to organise time and date. A volunteer can do as much time as they are free.
A driver is given a job and they drove to the clients house picks them up and takes them to their appointment. Usually they will wait and return the client home again. The client hands over a donation for our services and the driver will be repaid their expenses
