What food can you expect?

The short answer is: we don't know!! The reason being we only receive food which is about to go out of date (but is still good to eat) or surplus to requirements.

The amount and type of food available varies from week to week depending on what is donated to the Community Larder. One week we might have mountains of bread, the next we might have very little. It's anyone's guess what might be on offer.

However, we usually have a good selection of fresh fruit and vegetables although nothing is guaranteed! If something is in season we also try to provide a recipe to go with it.

There is quite often a good selection of gluten free products, but again, please don't count on it!

Occasionally we get cleaning products and toiletries.

We are very grateful to Morrisons' Boroughbridge Community Champions, Fink, Booths, Great Ouseburn Village Shop & Post Office, Minskip Farm Shop and the Co-Op (Thirsk) for their surplus food which they donate. Also to all the local householders who are bringing along tins of this, packets of that which they realise they won't use and to the allotment society for their wonderful windfall apples etc and excess vegetables.

Please remember to bring along a carrier bag for your food.
