It has been a busy week for our various teams, and several club competition matches have also been played. On Monday, Eric and Peter F faced a very talented and young team from Newport Pagnell in the Foundation Pairs. It was a very competitive game, but they finished up on the losing side.

On Tuesday Afternoon, our Ladies hosted Waddesdon in what is traditionally a Ladies’ Friendly game. However, on this occasion Waddesdon sent a mixed team and took the honours 54-44. On Tuesday Evening, after another nerve-jangling tie-break, Tricia and Martin won their game against an Aylesbury Town team in the Foundation Pairs and now progress to the County quarter-final stage.

On Thursday, we hosted a very strong Bletchley Town team in the opening round of the Club Two Fours Competition. Heavy rain and a hailstorm forced the players off the green after about 12 ends had been played. Bletchley Town had a healthy lead at this stage, and as the green became waterlogged, we decided to concede the match.

On Saturday, we had two away fixtures. Our Men’s team travelled to Bletchley St Martins in the Men’s Top Club. We won the Pairs and the Triples but lost the match 3-2. At the same time, we sent a team to face Adderbury in a mixed friendly game and lost this match 73-53. Our best rink on the day was Patricia, Peter T and Sharon.

On Sunday, we staged our popular Club Triples Day. Ten teams took to the green for the opening round of fixtures on a chilly day with the looming threat of rain, which duly arrived in time for the final games. Congratulations to Graham, Joëlle and Sharon who won the tournament beating Terry, Sue and Kevin in the final, while Richard K, Keith, John U and John N won the Plate beating Peter F, John C and Tricia in the final.

Fixtures

Our Ladies have a busy time next week with a home friendly against Newport Pagnell on Tuesday, an away friendly at Brackley on Wednesday, and a Ladies Top Club home match against Woburn Sands on Saturday Morning.

Wednesday also sees a rematch against Bletchley St Martins for our Men’s team. This time we play them in our opening Bucks Cup/Plate fixture with 2 triples at home and 2 away.

Our weekend mixed friendlies are home against Wolverton Town on Saturday Afternoon and away at Scots on Sunday Afternoon. We also have our regular Friday Night Triples games and several club competition matches scheduled during the week.
