Show regulations

  1. All classes are OPEN TO ALL.
  2. Entry Fee. 20p per entry. No entry fee for Children’s Classes.
  3. Completed entry forms, with fees, must be submitted by 8pm on the Thursday preceding show day.  Late entries are accepted at 30p per entry (children free).  Floral arrangement classes requiring niches cannot accommodate late entries.  E-mail entries may be submitted to the Show Secretary. Payment for e-mail entries will be accepted on show day.
  4. No Exhibitor may make more than one entry in any Class.
  5. Challenge Cups must be returned to the Show Secretary before the Show.
  6. On Show Days, produce for exhibition must be staged between 8.30 and 10.30 am. Cards, supplied by the Secretary, must be displayed by the exhibitor with each entry. Spring Show staging is from 12.30pm until 1.30pm.
  7. The Show Area must be vacated by 10.45 am for judging. Exhibits must not be removed before 4.00 pm, without special permission of the Secretary.
  8. Society vases are available for Flower and Shrub entries. Exhibitors must provide their own containers for all other Classes. In Flower Classes, exhibits are to be shown in one container for each entry unless otherwise stated.
  9. Exhibits in the Horticultural Classes must have been grown by the exhibitor. For Floral Arrangement Classes this rule does not apply. Plant material may be purchased unless otherwise specified.
  10. Vegetable exhibits must be cleaned, except where stated. The number of vegetables of each type in any collection must correspond with the number in the Class for that vegetable alone. In addition, if the following are included, there should be:- 2 Cabbages; 2 Cauliflowers; 2 Sweet Com; 2 Cucumbers.
  11. Points will be awarded as follows: 1st-3 points, 2nd-2 points, 3rd-1 point.
    1. If any Class comprises more than ten entries, a joint third prize may be awarded at the judges’ discretion. In the event of a tie for any trophy, the exhibitor gaining most First awards shall be the winner.
    2. All Horticultural Classes will be judged under the Rules of the RHS.
  12. Disputes must be submitted In writing to the Show Secretary before 3.00 pm on the day of the Show. Disputes will be considered by the Committee, whose decision will be final.
  13. Reasonable care will be taken of all staged articles, but the Committee will not be responsible for any loss or damage.
  14. Where possible, exhibitors are invited to name their exhibits, as this stimulates interest in the Show for members and visitors.
