PRESIDENT'S DAY 2023

A great Presidents day on Saturday 12th August, enjoyed by all!    The only thing that went a little bit wrong was the weather – rain stopped play twice, and we only managed a 13 end game.

As is tradition, the game was between President Bob’s  team (guest bowlers from local clubs), pitted against the members of Chandos Park players.    We began the afternoon with a Spider (a bottle of whiskey won by Pat J).   The game held a welcome surprise for Bob's team who were not making much headway, luckily opposition skip, Macca, came to the rescue by knocking their only bowl out of the head - something that rarely happens - giving Bob's team a very welcome 9 shots on one end.  The Presidents team won the game overall, and his  top scoring rink was duly congratulated:  Colin Kirk, Dee Kirk and David Devereux Jones.

The after-match buffet was excellent, and Sue and Mike Edwards were thanked for their hard work.  Bob’s wife Cheryl also got a big thank you for her endurance of  Bob’s bowling commitments, and on the day, for managing the bar.

In total of £200 was raised for Bob's chosen charity, Willen Hospice.   By the time everyone left for home the sun had got his hat on.

Thank you Bob for a lovely afternoon.

Here are a few photos taken during the afternoon...
