Provisional Bookings

Booking a provisional Club Competition match

A detailed step by step guide to booking a Provisional Club Competition Match.

It will also be suitable for all other competition bookings, bearing the following in mind:

County/National Competitions only require two alternative dates.

Outdoors Competitions always only require ONE (four hour) session

The BowlR system permits the booking of provisional Dates Times and Rinks so that the opposing team / player can have some flexibility in when the match is played.

Our current rule is that the Challenger (the home side) offers 3 alternative Dates etc, to the opposition, which are entered into the Rink Book.

Once a fixture has been agreed the Challenger is required to remove the remaining 2 Dates from the Rink Book. Sadly this does not always happen, which results in ghost bookings.

The most IMPORTANT difference in BowlR is that ALL provisional bookings will be removed after 72 hours.

To provisionally book rinks in Bowlr, users will need to follow the steps below to book 3 dates, then create a replacement booking once the actual match date and time is agreed.

Steps to make a provisional booking

  1. Logon to the BowlR system
  2. The system may remember the last screen you looked at or show you the diary page.
  3. Click Diary at the top of the screen if the Diary page is not on display
  4. Click the Book a Match button
    a) On the left of the screen the My Roll-up/National.. Matches menu will be in bold. Any previously booked sessions will be listed here.
  5. Click Make a new booking
  6. The Diary will be displayed.
    a) Click / Touch Choose Date
    b) Click / Touch on the desired date
  7. The diary for the date chosen at 6b above will be displayed and will show current bookings.
  8. Hover the mouse pointer over and click (or touch the screen) on the free rink / time slot(s) you wish to book. NOTE: early matches are bell to bell, later fixtures require 2 sessions
  9. Click / Touch - Book Slot (if you need to book 2 sessions - you will need to book one after the other)
  10. The Online booking screen appears
    a) Click / Touch - Provisional Booking Request
    b) Click / Touch the drop down selection list - and choose the type of competition being played. (Club Competition)
    c) Leave your name as displayed
    d) Use some / all of the remaining 7 fields to add information EG - [vs] - [Bill Bloggs] - [Drawn Triples].
    e) Click / Touch Submit booking

You will now return to your list of bookings (step 4 above)

You need to IGNORE the text in the blue box at the top of the screen - we do not use BowlR in this way.

Repeat steps 5 - 10 to make 2 additional provisional bookings (on different day)

11) When you have made 3 bookings you need to contact your opponent(s) and offer them the dates / times. BowlR will NOT notify them automatically.
a) NOTE: The clock is ticking - they have a little less than 72hrs to respond!!
b) After 72hrs all 3 sessions booked will disappear, and you will have to start the whole process again.
c) At the time of writing this doc, what penalties are to be applied in this situation have not been discussed.

12) Once your opponent has accepted one of your dates. You will need to Remove all 3 Provisional bookings and make a new (confirmed) booking for the agreed Date / Time / Rink.

NOTE: Outdoor rinks that are booked for anything other than internal League matches will be allocated on the day by way of a draw.

13) Make a note of the agreed session details

14) Login In to BowlR

15) Navigate to the list of bookings that you have made.
a) Click / Touch My Account at the top of the screen
b) Click / Touch My Roll-up/National/

16) From the list displayed
a) Locate each session Provisionally booked above.
b) Click / Touch Remove
c) Repeat for the remaining 2 other sessions
d) You will receive email confirmation that the sessions have been cancelled.

17) Using the information that you noted at 13 above.
a) Repeat steps 5 - 9 above

18) Choose AGREED - CONFIRMED BOOKING REQUEST

19) Select Club Competition
a) Leave your name as displayed
b) Use some / all of the remaining 7 fields to add information EG - [vs] - [Bill Bloggs] - [Drawn Triples].
c) Click / Touch Submit booking

That's it Job Done.

If it becomes necessary to cancel the confirmed booking, you will need to contact the Club Secretary.
