Dear Members

I am writing this at the end of what has been a very enjoyable short mat season culminating in three fantastic finals days. Short mat is now becoming so popular, catering for all players, for those who wish to compete in matches and League, we have an extra league team entered for the 2026/27 season, making four teams, this together with the two knockout cup games caters for the competitive players. We also had a good number of friendly games and a number of groups who just wish to roll up.

To open the outdoor season, we had a glorious St George's Day with so many members wishing to play, to make sure that every member who wanted to play had the opportunity to do so two playing sessions were arranged, it is so good to see so many members coming together to enjoy a game of bowls. Again, we have a very full fixture list for the season covering everything from friendly, league and County matches, catering for all. We need members to put their names forward for matches both home and away.

We have always managed to recruit a number of new members on our open days and it is hoped that this trend will continue with the two open days arranged for this season. It is vital that we continue to welcome new members bringing with them new ideas and to continue with the running of a successful club.

As a club we are very lucky to have so many of our members who take on a volunteering role without which the club would not run so well as it does. I would like to thank all our volunteers and say never think that you are not appreciated because you are the backbone of the club. Thank you.

I wish you all a very enjoyable outdoor season and remember whether you play competitively or just for fun enjoy whatever you do.
