Job Description:

Job Title: Town Clerk/Responsible Financial Officer

22 Hours per week, flexible working.

We are seeking a resourceful and experienced individual to join us as our new Town Clerk. The Town Clerk will serve as the Proper Officer and Responsible Financial Officer, playing a crucial role in assisting the Council with decision-making and implementation. The ideal candidate will ensure the efficient and effective delivery of Town Council services, projects, and activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Proper Officer and Responsible Financial Officer for the Council.
  • Assist in making and implementing Council decisions.
  • Manage the Council’s administrative, financial, and operational functions.
  • Work collaboratively with staff, contractors, councillors, external organisations, stakeholders, and the community.
  • Attend and minute council meetings, including at least one evening meeting per month.
  • Hybrid working between home and office, with flexible working arrangements.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Enthusiastic, flexible, and community-focused.
  • Excellent administrative, interpersonal, accounting, and IT skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ideally, hold a CILCA (Certificate in Local Council Administration) or be willing to achieve it soon after appointment.
  • Experience in local authority and people management is desirable.
  • Demonstrable leadership and organizational skills.
