Haltwhistle Photography Competition 2026 - Competition Rules
Organiser
The Haltwhistle Photography Competition 2026 is organised by Haltwhistle Town Council.
Eligibility
- The competition is open to all ages and residents of any location.
- Photographs must be taken within Haltwhistle Parish.
- Entrants may submit a maximum of three photographs.
- Entrants must be the photographer and owner of all images submitted.
- Entrants under the age of 18 must have permission from a parent or guardian to enter.
Categories
Adult Photographer
Open to entrants aged 18 and over.
Junior Photographer
Open to entrants under the age of 18.
People's Choice Award
A shortlist of photographs selected by the judges will be put forward for public voting.
How to Enter
- Photographs should be submitted by email to haltyphotos@gmail.com.
- Entries must be received by 11:59pm on 17th of August 2026.
- Photographs must be submitted as JPEG (.jpg) files.
- Entrants should include:
- Their name
- Contact details
- Whether they are entering the Adult or Junior category
- The location where the photograph was taken
Prizes
Adult Photographer
- 1st Prize: £30 local shop voucher
Junior Photographer
- 1st Prize: Family Swim Ticket and Tripod
- 2nd Prize: Photography Book and Tripod
- 3rd Prize: Tripod
People's Choice Award
- £30 local shop voucher
Photographs
- Photographs may have been taken at any time but must have been taken within Haltwhistle Parish.
- Basic editing is permitted, including cropping, colour correction, contrast adjustment and exposure adjustment.
- AI-generated images are not permitted.
- Composite images or images that substantially alter the original scene may be disqualified at the judges' discretion.
- Entries must not contain offensive, defamatory, unlawful or inappropriate content.
Permissions and Copyright
- Entrants are responsible for obtaining permission from any identifiable individuals featured in their photographs.
- Entrants retain full copyright of their photographs.
- By entering the competition, entrants grant Haltwhistle Town Council a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use submitted photographs in:
- The council website
- Social media
- Newsletters
- Annual reports
- Promotional and publicity materials
- Photographers will be credited wherever reasonably practicable.
Judging
- Entries will be judged on creativity, composition, technical quality and how effectively they capture the character of Haltwhistle.
- A shortlist will be selected for the People's Choice Award.
- The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- Haltwhistle Town Council reserves the right not to award a prize if, in the opinion of the judges, no suitable entry is received.
General
- Haltwhistle Town Council reserves the right to refuse, remove or disqualify any entry that does not comply with these rules.
- By entering the competition, entrants are deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions.
We are particularly interested in photographs showcasing Haltwhistle's landscapes, wildlife, heritage, community life and local character.
