Captains Day was held on Saturday 26th August and despite the threat of heavy rain, we escaped with only the occasional brief shower.

The day began with target bowls with 2 attempts to accumulate the highest score. After a fiercely fought battle during the morning, and several scores of 0, Angela Foster emerged as the winner with a score of 14.

Meanwhile, the tombola did a roaring trade and the homemade cakes were very well received. In the afternoon, the spider event was won by Jan Henderson with Gary Baines as runner up and then 5 teams of 4 played a round robin tournament.

This was competitively fought and the winners were club captain Derek Parsons with his team of ladies - Shirley Parker, Lynn Conaway and Anne Dyke.

This was an excellent fun and fund raising day for the club and our thanks go to everyone who took part but especially to the team which put in many hours of work to get everything ready for the day.
