Planning Your Event

We hope that the following practical information will help you in planning your event at the Centre.  See also Facilities and FAQs.

Tables & Chairs:

Tables & chairs are included in the hall hire charges. The following are available:

  • 25+ x 6' x 2'6" rectangular tables.  Comfortably seat 6 people per table
  • 14 x 4' round tables.  Comfortably seat 6 people per table;  or 8 people per table for e.g. buffets
  • 7 x 4' x 2'6" rectangular tables.  Useful for e.g. extensions to the larger rectangular tables or for birthday/wedding gifts, wedding cake etc
  • 148 x comfortable banqueting chairs (blue upholstery)

Please note that we do not supply tablecloths.

Sample Table Layouts:

The way you lay out the tables for your event will depend on how you wish to use the main hall.  For example, you may be planning to have a sit down meal with either table service or a help-yourself buffet meal, and with or without a dance floor with space for a disco or live band.  Click here for an outline floor plan of the Centre including the measurements of the main hall.

Here are a few sample layouts with a guide to how many people each layout will seat:

Please note that whatever table layout you choose, you must leave a 'corridor' of at least 1.15 metres at each of the Fire Exits to ensure that people can leave the building safely in the event of an emergency.

Decorating the Hall:

The Centre is neutrally decorated throughout so that you can choose your own 'colour theme' for your event.  The Booking Manager will advise you on options for putting up your decorations.

HTCC Catering Equipment Hire:

A small assortment of (non-matching) cutlery, crockery and glasses is kept in the kitchen for your use.  Alternatively, for large events (e.g. wedding receptions), we have a good supply of white bone china crockery, good quality cutlery and a wide range of glassware (including water jugs) available for hire.  Please see our Equipment Hire Tariff for details.  If you wish to hire any of our crockery, cutlery and glassware, we will need to receive your completed equipment hire form six weeks’ in advance of your booking date and we will send you an invoice for the total equipment hire charge.

Local Suppliers:

We maintain a list of local suppliers used by people who have hired the Centre for their event.  Other suppliers are of course available!  Please note that we have no financial interests in any of the suppliers listed and cannot guarantee the quality of their services.  Click on the links below to see further details:
