Norbury welcomed New Addington on 9 May for an enjoyable afternoon of bowls played in near-perfect conditions. With warm sunshine, a gentle breeze and blue skies throughout, it was one of those days that reminds you exactly why outdoor bowls is so special. Fingers crossed our future matches are as lucky with the weather!

The bowling itself was competitive and played in excellent spirit across the green. New Addington proved once again what a strong and friendly club they are, helping to create a genuinely enjoyable atmosphere both on and off the rink.

On Rink 3, Sam led, Bev played second and Clive took on his first match as skip in a confident 19-8 win for Norbury. After building an early lead, the Norbury trio kept control of the game throughout and finished strongly in the closing ends to secure a deserved victory.

Over on Rink 2, Terry - proudly showing off his fancy new bowls - played lead, Karen was second and Alice skipped in a much tighter contest. After falling behind early on, Norbury battled back impressively and the scores were level heading into the final end. New Addington just edged that last end to take a narrow 17-15 win, but it was an excellent match from start to finish.

Off the green, Elisa and Gill did a fantastic job putting out the food for everyone, which was hugely appreciated, and the raffle was a great success as always - made even more remarkable by the fact that the Florences somehow failed to win absolutely everything this time.
