Open Day - Saturday 26th April 2025

We were forecast rain, but the bowling gods clearly had other plans. The sun shone brightly over Norbury Bowling Club on our 2025 Open Day, and with it came a fantastic turnout — at least 45 visitors and 20 members on hand to welcome them.

It was a brilliant sight: every rink in use and a real buzz around the green. Many visitors were trying bowls for the first time — not that you’d know it. Some were surprisingly good. We offer free coaching, but it didn’t look like many needed it!

There was a great showing from families, including a good number of children who got properly stuck in. From personal experience, it’s lovely to play a sport where a whole family can join in together — bowls really is a game for everyone.

Our ever-popular raffle didn’t disappoint either, with plenty of tickets sold, happy prize winners, and a decent bit of money raised for the club.

A big thank you to all the members who made the day run so smoothly — from those offering coaching and setting things up, to those who organised the food and raffle, and to everyone who kept the atmosphere so welcoming. These days don’t happen by themselves, and we’re really grateful.

We were especially pleased to hear how many people said they had no idea the club was here — and even more pleased when several of them joined on the spot. We’ve welcomed four new members already, with a few more in the pipeline.

If you missed the open day, don’t worry — you’re still very welcome to come along and give it a try. Just bring some flat shoes and we’ll take care of the rest.

Here’s to more sunny days on the green.
