Plymouth Mixed Lge Rules updated
Plymouth Area Mixed League
The normal rules of bowls shall generally apply; however, the following will apply to the mixed league.
- Matches will ordinarily be arranged for 2pm on a Tuesday. If an allocated match is not convenient it will be the responsibility of the clubs involved to rearrange to another date/time.
- All teams will play each other team once, either home or away
- The game shall consist of 3 rinks playing 18 ends
- All rinks shall contain at least one lady and one man.
- A rink may play short (with 3 players) and be deducted the usual 25% of their score, but must still contain a player of each gender.
- The Captain of each side, usually by the toss of a coin, shall determine which side shall deliver the first wood.
- During play, should the jack leave the confines of the rink it will be placed on the full-length spot, or if this spot is taken, as close behind as possible in a straight line with the rink number.
- If a match is conceded the “winning” team shall be credited with an 11-0 win.
- Should a match which has started be unable to be completed for any reason, the following shall apply:
- If a total of 27 ends or more have been completed the result will stand
- If 18 or more ends have been completed, but less than 27, the result will stand only if both captains agree.
- In all other circumstances the match shall be replayed from the start.
- Scoring - the winning team shall be awarded 3 points. Should they win by 11 shots or more they will score a bonus point. Should they win by 10 shots or less the losing team will be awarded a bonus point. Should the match be drawn both sides will receive 2 points.
- It will be the responsibility of the home club to notify the organiser of the match result.
- Dress code – players should wear whites (or club colours), although games played at 6pm shall be in greys (or club colours).
- Teams may stop at the halfway stage or at the end for tea and biscuits if they wish.
