Plymouth Mixed Lge Rules

Plymouth Area Mixed League

 

The normal rules of bowls shall generally apply; however, the following will apply to the mixed league.

 

  1. All teams will play each other team once, either home or away

 

  1. The game shall consist of 3 rinks playing 18 ends

 

  1. All rinks shall contain at least one lady and one man.

 

  1. A rink may play short (with 3 players) and be deducted the usual 25% of their score, but must still contain a player of each gender.

 

  1. During play, should the jack leave the confines of the rink it will be placed on the full-length spot, or if this spot is taken, as close behind as possible in a straight line with the rink number.

(So that all rinks should finish at about the same time)

 

  1. Scoring - the winning team shall be awarded 3 points. Should they win by 11 shots or more they will score a bonus point. Should they win by 10 shots or less the losing team will be awarded a bonus point. Should the match be drawn both sides will receive 2 points.

(So that should a team lose narrowly they will still score receive some reward).

 

Should a team win all their matches they will receive 4 bonus points.

(So that like the rugby 6 nations, any team which wins all its matches will win the league, irrespective of bonus points).

 

  1. Should a team concede a game the team who have been conceded the game will receive 4 points. The team who have conceded the game will be deducted 1 point.

 

  1. Dress code – players should wear whites (or club colours) although games played at 6pm shall be in greys (or club colours).
