If, within 14 days* after the date of each notice (i.e. no later than 2 February 2021), a request for an election to fill the respective vacancy is made to the Returning Officer, Scarborough Borough Council, Town Hall, St Nicholas Street, Scarborough, YO11 2HG by TEN electors for the Parish, an election will be held to fill the vacancy, otherwise the vacancy will be filled by co-option.
Where ten valid requests for a by-election are received by the Returning Officer then under the provisions of the Coronavirus Act 2020 the by-election will not currently take place, and the vacancy will be held open until the by-election takes place. The 2020 regulations provide for the by-election to take place on the date for the Ordinary Election of Councillors due to be held on Thursday 6 May 2021. However, this date may be brought forward or deferred by the Government depending upon the circumstances. Any Election that is In due course called will be duly publicised as required by law.

Welcome to the Website of Seamer Parish Council.
Seamer Parish Council covers a large rural area together with Seamer Village and Crossgates near Scarborough in North Yorkshire.
The Council is here to serve all parishioners and we hope you will contact any Councillor or the clerk on any issue affecting the Parish. Please see the Council Members page for individual contact details for Members and the Contact page for details of the clerk. The Council will do what it can within its powers to assist with any matters raised.
The Council is not currently meeting in person, indefinitely during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions.
Virtual meetings of the Council are to be held by Zoom, on the second Tuesday of each month starting at 7.00pm.
Parishioners are warmly invited to attend.

Our normal meetings when they resume are held on the second Tuesday of each month, alternately at Seamer & Irton War Memorial Hall, Main Street, Seamer and Crossgates Community Centre starting at 7.00 p.m.
