2023 Summer Tour to Torquay

On Friday 1st September a touring party of 39 left Shriven ham for a long weekend away. After a short break on the motorway, we all arrived at our first game against Newton Abbot BC.  And although not important we won 97 shots to 95. With our team of 4 ladies getting a 7 on the last end to concrete the win. Well done to Trixie, Sue G, Olive and Val.

After a short stay following the game, we carried down to the Cornish Riveria to our Hotel - The Toraak in Torquay.

After a buffet breakfast everyone used their free time by going shopping, walks and in frequenting the bistro area where coffees etc were consumed.

Saturday Afternoon our second game was against Torquay Kings BC, which was fortunate as we were able to walk to the game and use the coach to return us to the hotel later after the game.

Again, we won, which was a great result against one of the top clubs in the area.

Sunday afternoon the group travelled to our third game against Paignton. The green was great, the cream teas went down a treat and Paignton looked after all of us (Group photo on the web site).

On our last day, we had a game against Taunton Deane BC on the way back home. Again the location was superb, but the jungle drums must have been going on as they decided to play quite a few county bowlers against us. Our group put up a good show, but still lost.   You cannot win them all.

At around 7pm Monday night we all arrived back at our club, tired, worn out, but an enjoyable weekend.

Yes the weather gods look on us favourably, but the whole party did their bit in making it worthwhile.

I am told they all enjoyed it, as I have been asked to arrange another tour, hopefully to the same area, but against different clubs.
